INTRODUCTION TO AIRBUS TETRA SYSTEM NETWORK
Core network switches and servers are the heart and brains of a TETRA system. The Airbus TETRA switches and servers from Airbus DS are the only high-end telecom grade switch platforms on the market. Thanks to the technology used in its hardware and design, they are a platform you can trust.
Switches
All Airbus TETRA switch platforms allow you to share one TETRA System network between several organizations. Each of these organizations can use the services as if they were the only user of the network. The radio users, groups, and call rights within each user organization can be controlled independently. This unique feature of Airbus DS TETRA core networks offers a cost-efficient solution to network investment and helps to reduce the costs of network operation and administration.
Each organization can have:
- Network management platform to manage the radio subscribers, groups, organization blocks, and other TETRA network elements
- Own Dispatchers stations for voice and data communication;
- AVL monitoring for the location of its own users
- Communication recording, to record and replay all the communication made inside their own organization
Each organization can manage and monitor the radio subscribers belonging to their own organization. By default, only one organization is created: the main organization that has top rights. It is possible to create more 'main level organizations' and each main level organization can have several sub-levels or departments. Organizations can be independent or allowed to have communications between them.
Tetra Base Stations
TB3 series TETRA Base Stations provide the wireless and mobile communication in the TETRA system. The TB3, TB3c, TB3p and TB3hp base stations family, provide the flexibility to address a wide variety of network topologies, providing the best network coverage and reliable service in a very cost efficient manner. They are all based on the Airbus DS third-generation base station platform. The TB3 base stations is the most advanced TETRA base station available in the market today and boosts features such as six (6) receiver diversity providing for superior RF coverage.
Dispatch Work Stations
The dispatching family of the Airbus TETRA system is composed by the DWS management and dispatching solutions as also the advance RCS 9500 products. The DWS-M (Management) provides administrative facilities with standard PC-based tools for the management of subscribers, groups, group areas, dispatchers, organizations and other workstations. The RCS 9500 is a pure Voice over IP radio dispatch console, providing quick access to TETRA communication features and versatile interfaces for Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and call taking systems. Handling communication services for individual calls, group calls, emergency calls, status, SDS messages, PSTN/PABX and interfacing with external systems.
Operations Manager 100 (OM 100)
Is a mapping application that lets dispatchers see:
Thanks to the OM 100, the dispatcher sees where each unit is. He also sees which unit can accept a new task. When there is an incident, he knows exactly which unit is closest and can be sent to the task. Dispatcher can define how often mobile units update their location. The update can be based on the time passed, or on the distance traveled. Track the units
The OM 100 helps track the units. It lets you set up automatic tracking of units. The dispatcher will get an alert if a mobile unit strays from a pre-planned route or from the duty area. The OM 100 also has geofencing. The dispatcher can draw an area on the map and set up automatic tracking inside this area. This is useful for tracking
